Job Title: HVAC Helper Job Description

The HVAC Helper supports experienced HVAC technicians with installation, service, preventive maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This entry-level role offers hands-on field experience and training across Bucks County and surrounding areas, providing a strong foundation for a long-term career in the HVAC trade.

• Assist HVAC installation crews with the setup, installation, and removal of HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and related components.
• Support technicians in performing service work, troubleshooting issues, and completing repairs on HVAC systems.
• Help with preventive maintenance tasks on heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment in residential and commercial settings.
• Gather, load, and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for each job and ensure they are used and maintained properly.
• Follow instructions from lead technicians and forepersons to complete daily tasks safely, efficiently, and within project scope.
• Assist in interpreting basic blueprints, specifications, and job layouts under guidance to support installation activities.
• Perform physical labor such as lifting, carrying, kneeling, and climbing ladders to access job sites, including attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
• Maintain a clean and orderly job site by removing debris, organizing tools, and supporting overall site safety practices.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and, when appropriate, with customers while on job sites.
• Participate in on-the-job training to develop skills in HVAC installation, service, ductwork, sheet metal, and troubleshooting.
• Document basic information as requested by technicians, such as noting issues observed or tasks completed during service visits.

• Mechanical aptitude and strong willingness to learn the HVAC trade.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude toward teamwork and customer service.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, and confined environments.
• Capacity to stand, walk, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Previous construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC experience preferred but not required.

• Interest in HVAC systems, HVAC installation, and HVAC service work.
• Exposure to or familiarity with ductwork and sheet metal installation is a plus.
• EPA Certification is a plus.
• HVAC trade school coursework or formal training is a plus.
• Basic understanding of reading blueprints and job layouts is helpful but can be learned on the job.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail when assisting with repairs and maintenance.
• Willingness to travel within assigned service areas in PA and NJ as needed.

This is a field-based role serving multiple communities across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including areas such as Langhorne, Levittown, Holland, Penndel, Newtown, Fairless Hills, Feasterville, Trevose, Bristol, Richboro, Yardley, Bensalem, Southampton, Warminster, Ewing, Lawrenceville, Princeton, Ivyland, Buckingham, Willow Grove, Hamilton, Horsham, Washington Crossing, Doylestown, New Hope, Northeast Philadelphia, Warrington, Burlington, Bordentown, Florence, Robbinsville, Riverside, and Delran. Work is primarily performed at customer locations and may involve frequent lifting, carrying, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in crawl spaces and other confined areas. You will spend most of the day standing, walking, and performing physical labor, often in hot or cold environments depending on the season and job site conditions. Dress typically aligns with practical field work, including appropriate workwear and footwear suitable for construction and mechanical tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newtown, PA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
